Allstate Steel Co. Inc. was awarded a $3.5 million contract to fabricate and erect steel for Baptist Medical Center South’s new tower. Bason-Cook Construction is the general contractor on that project.

The new tower will be constructed between Interstate 95 and Philips Highway, south of Old St. Augustine Road. The eight-story tower will include 42 hospital beds in a 152,000-square-foot building.

Extra beds will be added as the expansion is completed with the start date set for December 2016. The expected completion date for the project is late 2017.
